About Me

Hi.  My name is McKay Johnson and I am a senior at Clovis North High School in Fresno, California.  Thank you for looking at my personal athlete website on Prep Recruiters.  If you didn't find my website by searching the site, it is because I have emailed you with a link to bring you here, which means your school and program is one I am very interested in attending and competing for.  I have been very committed to my sport and craft for the past 5 years.  Since the conclusion of my junior season I have made big gains in the gym and in the ring, spending more time than I ever have because I want to succeed and be able to compete at the next level.  I have been fortunate to have a supportive family, coaches, and training partners who have met my commitment by being involved as much as I have asked them to be.  The bottom line is that I found that you can have all the resources in the world, and have people want the best for you, but the drive and push for it had to come from me.

My goals may seen lofty, but I know I can achieve them and am already well on my way.  We grow late in my family and I have included some stats around my weight and distance improvements to demonstrate that.  I have grown up a lot over the past year realizing that being "all-in" meant something more than what I was giving previously, although I have always worked hard.  Just not like this!  I am a very good and disciplined student.  As a teammate, I try to act like a leader by example, and always exhibit sportsmanship, win, lose, or otherwise.  I do hope you'll consider me for your program, and be willing to stay connect, and follow what I am doing.  If you should be interested, or want to know anything more, please feel free to let me, my parents, or school know.

Thank you,

McKay

My Current Focus

My biggest focus in achieving my goals now is around working with the 16lb shot put and 2kg for the Summer before I get to Cal.  I am going to skip on Junior Nationals and Junior Olympics because of the transition up in implement weight.  My plan is to compete at the USATF Junior Nationals next year.

Physically, I want to focus more on developing my training routine and strength to be more in line with what my college coaches are going to expect.  This will include slowly bringing my weight up to hopefully 250lb or more before I get to school, and closer to over 260lb before the end of my freshman track season.  I continue to evolve with how I manage my diet and calorie intake to get the right kind of muscle weight.  It's a job but continues to pay off!
